Year 4 – Oceania and Africa classes
This term we have been learning all about Canada. We can find Canada on a world map and know the North part of the country gets very cold. We have learned about Canadian folk art, painted in the style of a Canadian painter called Lawren Harris and we had fun designing and making our own totem poles.
In literacy, we learned an Inuit folk tale which was told by the indigenous people in the north of Canada. We then wrote our own stories in a similar style. We also wrote some very persuasive adverts to encourage holiday makers to choose a trip to Canada.
In science we investigated sound. We enjoyed using string telephones, making ear protectors and creating our own musical instruments.
