St. Andrew’s CE Primary School Council

‘Learning together we achieve great things’

The school council at St Andrew’s CofE Primary School meet termly to discuss with Mrs Gerrish, Assistant Headteacher, ideas to contribute to the improvement of the school. They then feedback ideas to their classes and take new ideas back to the next meeting.

The School Council Vision Statement is as follows:

Our school council works together as a team to ensure we can be the best school possible by discussing ideas and making decisions.

  1. We aim to make pupils feel comfortable, happy and safe at school.
  2. We aim to listen to others and discuss comments and suggestions that would make our school an even more wonderful place.
  3. We shall work hard to make our world a better place.

To all pupils of St. Andrew’s CE Primary School,

Our school council meetings create opportunities for your views to be expressed and heard. With effective communication within school, the decisions that are made can take into account your views and ideas. The School Council at St. Andrew’s C of E Primary School consists of a team of extremely active and well organised children.  We take our roles very seriously and we have enabled positive changes within school.

The school council is led by the children for the children.  At the start of each academic year, we vote in our year groups and nominate two school councillors.  We meet at least twice in every half term. We are supported by Our Class Teachers and Chair of Governors and, when we need change, we approach our Headteacher with our ideas.

During the past few years, the school council have helped to improve the school environment and grounds, suggested fun activities during school time, raised money for charities and worthwhile causes and also been involved in the interview process for our church.

We aim to give monthly updates about our initiatives and ideas that we are carrying out in school. Please read through our emails and posts on the school website to help support us.
