In year 5, our students were engaged in an exciting and educational journey through history as they focus their studies on Roman Britain. During the study, students gained insights into various aspects of Roman life and culture, such as Roman settlements and towns, the construction of Hadrian's Wall, the daily routines of Roman citizens, and the impact of Roman rule on the local population.

The Year 5 trip to Chinnor Nature Reserve was a perfect blend of education, adventure, and the joy of discovery. The group gathered at a designated area for the fire lighting activity. A safety briefing set the tone, stressing the importance of responsible behaviour in the reserve. The Forest School instructors demonstrated proper fire lighting techniques, emphasizing the use of natural materials such as dry leaves and twigs. Each student had the opportunity to try their hand at creating a sustainable fire under close supervision.  As we returned to our classrooms, the memories of this forest school experience will continue to inspire a deeper appreciation for our natural environment.

We were also busy making our moon phases calendars. We used our prior knowledge from D&T in Year 4 when we created moving pictures to make and paint an interactive calendar linking to our science topic for this term, Earth and Space.

Finally, the smell of delicious savoury pizza was in the air during term 3. A special thanks to Mrs Bruce for helping prepare and bake such authentic pizzas for the children to enjoy. Masterchef finalist in the making!
