Walter Tull
Walter Tull was a trailblazer and a hero. He was one of Britain’s first Black professional footballers, playing for famous teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Northampton Town. But when World War I began, Walter put down his football boots to serve his country.
He became the first Black officer in the British Army — an incredible achievement at a time when this was very unusual. Walter showed extraordinary bravery on the battlefield and led his soldiers with courage, even when life was dangerous.
Walter Tull’s story reminds us that courage can mean chasing your dreams and standing tall, even in the face of great challenges. His life inspires us to be brave and never give up.
